My husband and I hiked to the hawk nest, and set up the Canon 7D and Pro-View. The Pro-View was a success. I
could see the nest and chicks; no over-exposed areas. We covered the camera, lens, and tripod with camouflage material,
and walked away to a secluded area, with tall trees hiding where we were, and watched the nest and young birds remotely
with the Pro-View. It was wonderful not having to stand next to the camera, where the birds could see us. Hidden in the
woods, sitting on my chair and holding my Pro-View screen, I really enjoyed watching the chicks wake up and stand there
preening and looking around. The parent hawk came once to fed them. I could even see insects flying around the birds
and nest. I took some photos, and could see the flash in the Pro-View light up the nest, and I could hear the shutter, so I
knew I was taking photos. I love the zoom feature of the Pro-View.
I had a close view of the birds and nest. It was fun
watching their behavior. Using the Pro-View is so much
easier than watching the birds with binoculars, or looking
through the camera's viewfinder, or watching the camera's
live view screen. I am also hoping to find other ways to
use the Pro-View. Having a wireless remote screen,
(no cables as in some other remote screen systems)
and using a wireless remote shutter, a wildlife photographer
can get away and hide from their subject. Our next project
might be to watch the beaver lodge on our property, and if
we are lucky, photograph beaver activity.
